Who we are and what this covers
This policy describes how the operator of gethomesteadapp.com ("Homestead," "we," or "us") handles information through this website, its feedback survey, its optional Free edition availability signup, and its developer tester application.

This policy does not describe every use of the downloadable Homestead application. Information stored on a user's own Homestead server is separate from website survey data. This website does not automatically connect to or read your personal Homestead media libraries. Consult the application's privacy documentation and the policies of services you configure for its data practices.
Information you provide
When you submit the survey, we store your selected edition, preferred billing option, pricing feedback, feature priorities, written comments, and whether you requested Free edition availability updates. We also store a submission identifier, time, survey version, and the pricing shown for that version.
We store your email address only if you select the email signup option and submit an address. You can submit feedback and download the Free preview without signing up. Please do not include passwords, API keys, payment information, sensitive household information, or other people's personal information in survey comments.
When you apply to become a developer tester, we store your optional name or handle, email address, primary server platform, self-hosting experience, selected testing areas, expected testing availability, optional notes, consent record, application status, submission identifier, and submission time. Do not include credentials, private media-library details, payment information, or other sensitive information in the application.
Connection information and referral labels
The survey records a simple source label, such as "youtube" or "website," based on the link used to reach it. The saved survey record does not include the full referring URL or your IP address.
Website requests pass through Cloudflare and the website hosting infrastructure. These services process connection information, which may include IP addresses, requested URLs, request times, browser information, and security events, to deliver and protect the website. Query strings can be part of requested URLs, so do not put sensitive information in links to the site. The absence of IP addresses in survey records does not mean no infrastructure provider processes them.

Cookies and tracking
The current survey does not set tracking cookies. The website code does not include an advertising tracker or a third-party audience analytics script. Cloudflare may use security-related cookies or similar mechanisms depending on the protections enabled for the site. Linked services have their own cookie practices. We will update this policy if the website's data practices change.
How we use information
We use survey responses to understand interest in Homestead, evaluate proposed features and prices, and improve the project. If you opt in, we use your email for Free edition availability updates. We use developer tester applications to evaluate applicants, contact selected testers, coordinate development testing, and administer time-limited development access when licensing support becomes available. Applying does not create an account, guarantee selection, activate a license, or start a paid subscription.
Connection information helps deliver the website, diagnose failures, and prevent abuse. We may use information as necessary to respond to requests or comply with applicable legal obligations.
Storage and sharing
Survey responses and developer tester applications are stored in separate private files on the operator's server and may be exported for review. The website has no public results or applicant-list endpoint. Responses, applications, and email addresses are not posted publicly by these forms.
We do not sell survey responses or email addresses or share them for targeted advertising. Infrastructure providers process information needed to provide their services. We may disclose information when legally required or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse or protect rights and security. Any future service used to send signup updates will need access to the relevant opted-in addresses for that purpose.
Retention and your choices
The current survey and developer tester application store submissions until they are manually removed; they do not automatically expire records. [Before publication, confirm a retention schedule for active records, rejected tester applications, exports, and any backups.]
You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you provided, or to withdraw from the availability signup. Use the address listed above and, where possible, contact us from the address used to sign up. We may need limited information to verify a request. We may be unable to identify an anonymous response without details such as its approximate submission time and content. Applicable law may provide additional rights or require some information to be retained.
Donations and other external sites
The Support Homestead page links to GoFundMe. Payment details are entered on GoFundMe, not collected by a payment form on this website. GoFundMe and its payment providers govern their own processing and may make donor information available to the fundraiser organizer under their policies and donor settings. Other external links, including YouTube, are also governed by the destination's policies.
Children and security
The website's feedback survey and email signup are intended for adults evaluating Homestead, not for children under 13. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can address it.
We use safeguards intended to protect information, including separating survey storage from public website files. No internet transmission or storage system is guaranteed secure.
